It's time for another round of new Rebrickable features. These will hopefully improve the way you manage your LEGO collection, and help you get the most out of the site. Each new feature is detailed below.

Bulk Editing

I've been tinkering with getting this working for many months now, and it's finally in a state that I'm happy to release. Instead of editing the parts and sets in your collections one by one, you can now make bulk edits to multiple items at once. Combined with the filtering and grouping features introduced earlier this year, this makes for a powerful improvement in the ability to manage your LEGO collection on Rebrickable.

You will see a new button in the Part/Set toolbar labelled Bulk Edit. Clicking it enables Bulk Edit mode which places checkboxes on all items on the page, and displays the additional Bulk Edit action buttons.

For Parts, you can choose to   Edit details such as part number, color, quantity or apply a delta quantity to increase or decrease all parts by a specific amount. You can also   Copy or   Move the part(s) to a different Part List or Custom List. And you can also  Delete all selected parts at once.

If you're on the Pro Plan you will also be able to bulk edit any custom notes attached to your parts:

Sets in your Set Lists or Custom Lists can also be bulk edited.

Sets can be edited in the same way as parts, and provide the same copy/move/delete options.

You can also bulk edit the inventories of your MOCs both during the submission process and after it's been approved.

Display Options for Pro users

If you have upgraded to the Pro Plan or Designer Plan you will also see some additional display options on any list of parts or sets. You can now change the size of the parts or sets to suit your preferences, and there are also new settings that let you set the default view (under the Personalisation tab of your Settings page).

Parts, in Large (default), Medium and Small:

Sets, in Large (default), Medium and Small. Note that the Set tiles lose some information as they get smaller unlike the Part tiles:

If you haven't already, take a look at what other features upgrading to the Pro Plan gives you.

New Levels System

I have modified the Levels so that instead of being on a 1-10 scale, it now goes much higher. The equivalent of the old level 10 is now about level 31, but it will keep going up indefinitely. It is much easier to get to higher levels now, although it gets progressively harder as you get higher.

The minimum level requirements for certain features have been adjusted accordingly, and provide a nicer incremental climb up through the levels:

  Old Level  New Level
Submit MOC 1 1
Submit Part Photo 2 2
Submit Change Request 2 3
Submit Inventory 3 4
Submit Set 3 5
Submit Part 5 6
Send Private Messages 5 7

Although the required Levels are higher, the actual points needed to reach those levels are lower. No-one will be losing access to features they already had, and quite a number of people will suddenly gain access where they couldn't before.

Level Prizes

I have to admit, the new features that levelling up enables aren't terribly exciting :) The main reason they are there is to ensure the admin team are getting high quality submissions from people who are already familiar with Rebrickable and understand how it works.

So to make it a bit more interesting, I've decided to award various prizes for achieving higher milestone Levels:

Level Prize

Receive 3 months of Pro Plan for free. If you are already on the Pro Plan or Designer Plan, there will be no effect (sorry, providing credits/discounts isn't supported by PayPal). Existing users already over this Level miss out sorry.

Go into the draw for the monthly LEGO Raffle normally only available to Pro Plan users. Pro Plan users will have higher chances though, and the longer they have been on the plan the more chances they get.

Free upgrade to the Pro Plan for life. Existing users on Level 25 and above will be upgraded shortly.

Have your name appear in the About page. We currently have 3 immortalised (non-admin) users in the new Top Contributors section at the bottom of the About page :)

Great work! I've been slowly adding my collection and nice to now have the bulk editing function as I play around with how to keep my parts collections grouped in a way that is useful for me. Keep up the good work!

Nice! I was just checking my new level and noticed the new table of levels needed for features still needs to be copied into the user-levels docs.

What is the "Pro Plan for life"? Is that available already?
    • 2 weeks ago Berth (53417) MOC Designer PRO
Nathan said "will be upgraded shortly".

      So, keep on waiting.

I'm not sure many users are level 25 actually.
      • Sorry, will hopefully get to it today. I had a script ready to go but then realised some of you had already upgraded since I last checked so need to do it differently.

        UPDATE: its done
  • What is a mystery to me is how points are earned, they seem to come willy nilly, it would be nice if there was a list of what earns how many points.

Would you consider extending a subscription at level 15 to current pro users?

      From the Help Guide

Points are awarded by interacting with Rebrickable. For example: commenting on Sets, Liking MOCs, Following Designers, using Lists etc. You probably won't see Points added to your account immediately, some are calculated hourly or daily instead.
      • Thanks, I was aware of the generalities, but I was looking for more specific information e.g.  Liking MOCs = 10 pts, using a list = 5pts, etc.
        • If I reveal that, someone will figure out a way to game the system :)

(That would NEVER happen. 8-) )

            LOL good point.

I logged in today was like wait, I missed something my level just doubled, so finding the explanation on the new levels is great.

Security through obscurity is no security at all and honestly scares me that you would have this mindset since I gave you my credit card info to go pro.

All credit card processing is done by PayPal or Stripe, Rebrickable never sees that info. I take security very seriously. Hiding this info is more about trying to reduce spam than anything security related.
    • I don't have any flexibility with the way PayPal handles subscriptions - e.g. I can't give credits or change renewal dates. I tried really hard to come up with something that would also benefit anyone who were already paying for Pro, but in the end couldn't get around the PayPal problems.

Well done. Very impressed with your hard work and ideas to improve the site.

If we've become level 15 due to the adjustment, do we automatically become Pro or do we have to do something to enable it?
    • 2 weeks ago Vokhev (12872) MOC Designer
Yeah, I just became level 18 so I was wondering the same thing. Though it say "Existing users already over this Level miss out sorry." is that just for the aforementioned users who are already pro or is it also for us non pro?

If it does include us, what happens at the end of the 3 months?
  • Thanks for the new levels. It's nice to know hard work in providing content to the site will be rewarded.
Would it be possible for any change to part/set notes to be added to existing notes rather than overwriting them? and similarly would it be possible to bulk clear notes?
    • Yeah, sounds like a good idea. I want to do a lot more work with notes later, but will try to do this first.
