Again, this is the largest Star Wars set I've built, right after the 75249-1. The images look impressive, let's see if the real life model looks the same.

This is the 2nd version of Kylo Ren's Shuttle (if you don't count the 3 micro models). For some reason, the first one, 75104-1, was Grey. I had to rewatch The Force Awakens, to check. In episode 7, the shuttle is clearly Black. I have no idea why that was changed. One possibility is that the shuttle's color was changed after LEGO designed the set. This has happened more often in the Star Wars theme. For example, the 75152-1 Imperial Assault Hovertank, that later on got tracks in the movie. And the 75177-1 First Order Heavy Scout Walker, a vehicle that was cut from the movie completly. This sounds like dumb mistakes on the desingers side, but remember, that these designers have to work with limited footage, a long time before the movie is released. And the sudio often desides to change things last-minute. At that the time, LEGO has already begun packing sets, so they are in time in the store when the movie comes out.

The Set

Play out space-faring LEGO® Star Wars™ adventures with 75256 Kylo Ren’s Shuttle. This brick-built version of the Supreme Leader’s personal transport ship from the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker movie has lots of details to excite kids and collectors alike, such as a rotatable right engine for folding in the wings when landing and the ability to shorten the wings by folding the top part down. There's also an opening access ramp, 2 spring-loaded shooters and a cockpit with space to sit Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and 2 minifigures behind. As well as the Supreme Leader, this great LEGO Star Wars ship also includes General Pryde, a Sith Trooper, First Order Stormtrooper and 2 Knights of Ren for instant play action.

The Box

The box measures 88 x 372 x 473 mm and weighs 1660 grmas. Inside we find 7 bags numbered 1-7, and an instruction manual. I'm happy to report that there are no stickers in this set!

The Instructions

The instructions measure 195 x 258 mm, and has 297 building steps on 183 pages.

The pdf can be downloaded here.

The Parts

The set contains 997 parts and 29 spare parts, in 20 different colors, and 31 different categories, with a total of 271 unique parts/color combinations.

Main colors are:

Main categories are:

There are 2 new parts. One is a Cloak, and the other a new type of helmet:

There are a lot of new prints, all MiniFigure parts:

Part 15445 - Weapon Gun Automatic Pistol with Top Clip appears for the first time in Black.

And these parts are rare in their color:

There are a whopping 6 MiniFigures in this set! Of course there is a Kylo Ren. He's joined by 2 Knights of Ren, General Pryde, a Sith Trooper and a First Order Trooper.

The Build

Stages 1, 2 and 3 build the base of the ship. It's a sturdy build, capable of being handled by children. There is some Technic involved, for the wings later on.

Stages 4 and 5 build the underside of the 2 wings. One thing I noticed, is that the outside of the wings are nice smooth and all black. But the insides are more rough, messy and multicolored.

Stage 6 adds extra detailing to the back, and a roof on the cockpit.

Stage 7 adds the top to the wings, and some shooters to the underside of the ship.

All in all, I'm impressed by the size and sturdines of the build. Compared with the model in the movies, this is a good representation. The only downside is the inside of the wings, that looks messy.

I love how the wings fold in and out.

With the build-experience, the end result and the 6 minifigures, I can recommened this set. I think this is the better large set of this wave. The 75257-1 Millennium Falcon looks nice too, but I picked this one, because the Falcon already has countless versions.

Unfortunately (?) I had blacked the older version of the ship but did not have the patience also to modify it with the wing moving functions. But for me, there is no reason to buy the set.

Funny, General Pryde looks like the clone of Grand Moff Tarkin.
