Eddy please read my last post carefully. "To be clear, duplicate photos have only been getting deleted in the last month-ish as Nathan made changes to the system which allowed this to happen." Simon spent a long time investigating and telling you the numbers for how many photos have been deleted since you started to complain about this issue and it wasnt close to the thousands you kept claiming. If a photo is deleted it goes in the CL that it was. Your claim originally was that photos were disappearing without any sign of why. That is a wrong assertion and one that has been explained to you several times now. Thea was incorrect to make her statement as she is an admin and is well aware of our policies and what changes to policies have been made recently. One more time, your issues are: 1. ISSUE: You expect your old photos to be at the top of the part page because they used to be. For unique parts not in sets this was great for you because you could see the image without it needing to be in a set. ANSWER: The site was changed to display the photo of the most common color NOT the oldest photo. This has meant that you immediately think your photo has gone, especially for parts without a set and thus without a color breakdown page. HOW I SOLVED THIS FOR YOU: I added your parts to a dummy set which now creates a color breakdown page so you can see your photos. 2. ISSUE: You expect the photo drop down to include all part photos, thus you think your images are missing because they are not there. ANSWER: That drop down is for secondary photos ONLY. Your images are primary photos and will not display there. For parts without sets this meant your image was not visible anywhere by a user. HOW I SOLVED THIS FOR YOU: The same as above. Adding your parts to a dummy set gave them a color breakdown page which allowed you to see the part photo. 3. ISSUE: Your thumbs in part lists, etc..., are no longer displaying your photos but an incorrect LDraw image instead. ANSWER: Simon is in the middle of a very large and very complicated project to update all our LDraw images and improve their usefulness. This has caused some errors to part thumbs. HOW SIMONS GOING TO SOLVE THIS FOR YOU: Once his work is complete everything should be correct. As usual with this kind of thing there's bound to be some issues and we'll gladly sort them out then. 4. ISSUE: You don't like the policy of deleting photos. ANSWER: It's unreasonable to expect us not to delete photos if we get better ones. We now get a few hundred a week. If we kept older bad ones what purpose would they serve? Who wants to look at them? Why use up the storage space to keep them? HOW I SOLVED THIS FOR YOU: This is one of those things that unfortunately if you don't like you're going to have to lump. This is the site, this is the policy. 5. ISSUE: You thinking the Admin have got it out for you and don't believe you. ANSWER: You are so very wrong. You are the most involved user on the site, your input is invaluable and I know every single admin and user that is aware of all your work is very grateful. We have investigated your claim of vanishing photos several times over the past two years. Do you think we'd do that for someone we thought was an idiot? Do you think I'd still be responding now? HOW I SOLVED THIS FOR YOU: This ones up to you. I can't convince you anymore. CONCLUSION: No-one is unnecessarily deleting photos and no-one is maliciously messing you around. I have explained all this to you several times. I want to remind you that I am a volunteer here. I am using my personal time dealing with this for you and I'm pretty confident I have solved everything for you and explained as best I can what went wrong and how I've fixed it. If you somehow still don't believe me and are convinced your photo's are getting deleted I'm going to ask you again, please provide examples for us to investigate. As you saw from this post, examples help us give solutions. It's taken two years to get an example from you and as soon as we did we discovered what your issue was. Your Brown and Reddish Brown photos are now visible, and also no longer give you a color error (Your welcome by the way).

    Price Guide suggestion

https://rebrickable.com/blog/187/review-30340-1-emmets-piece-offering/#comments When it comes to that hidden price guide,Shouldn't it just track changes in price. ie if the price remain same don't do a entry, and limit the number of data points to 100 (3+ months worth of changes). That way all sets will have data in that field even if they are rare and barely sold. (as long as one set has bee sold since the feature started monitor the channels) That is the problem with bricklinks price guide data is flushed after 6 months, so if you find a rare sets you won't know what it's worth.if a set is unavailable put it down to zero, so we can see not only value but availability. ie when did the last set sell and how long did it takes for it to sell at that price

I managed to make some significant improvements to the All My Parts page (and My Parts) that should make a big difference for you.

    Lego digital designer file

Check current topics in: https://rebrickable.com/help/ and keep an eye out for new entries, in this case check the MOC session and the tool you used to design with.

What do you need a list to see which part are used to build the model you did design? If that is what you are looking for just make a Custum List and upload the lxf file to it, that is in My Lego tab.

That's been changing lately. It used to be every part that is in the box, but not used in the instructions. Like for example your case with the 21302-1. This is now changed to: Every part that is listed in the back of the instructions + sticker sheet. Seen the instructions for the 21302-1 lists all cutlery, all those parts are in the inventory.

I've disabled rhe element images. The issue is that LEGO doesn't distinguishes between the mold variations. And if I move the element id to the 2850a, future sets will get the wrong version when importing a inventory.

How to determine if a part is printed?

I've added a print_of field to the part detail view which should help.

That is not what he is saying: he want the "dark brown" column in the table to be highlighted in this case. (since he open a dark brown part) so he quickly spot that he got 4 of them and don't have to try to spot it among other similar colors like reddish brown which you might need to mouse over to see the difference between. or why not add a extra row above "You have 474 of this part in 15 colors" saying "You have 4 of this parts in Dark Brown" which means you don't even have to look in the table...

I think the easiest and best way for this is if it combine a set it will only do the complete set and/or the complete spare parts and flag the set according to if it successfully manage to do the spare parts or not. I should be able to trust that no "spare parts" are created in my parts list from thin air.

    LEGO Club Magazine Builds??

These should really be tagged in a way that group them with idea books builds.

Lebostein; material is NOT a single value field; neither are category or theme - it is just that, up to now, we have only defined single word materials, such as plastic and metal. We're still populating that field, and if needed, we can also add "plasticized cardboard" or such. We will NOT drop the limited grouping systems (category and theme) and only use an unlimited grouping system (tags). The advantage of categories and themes is their limitation. We have 64 part categories and 161 set themes, and each part and set has to belong to one of each of them. A "Powered Up Train Motor" clearly fits the category description "Power Functions, Mindstorms and Electric", and I think that where most people would look for it. Tags are unlimited (you can have thousands of them) and they are not useful for a quick selection using a drop down list. Of course, an additional Powered Up tag would make sense in this case, as would a "Train" or a "Motor" tag. Do realize that you can already on each of these words, and you don't need tags for that. The words are already in the part name, and that is searchable. The question is, would our users be interested in being able to see the entire group of "Train"-related parts, or all "Motors"? I would guess they probably are, but if we add a tag like "Powered Up", somebody has to spend a few hours to find all Powered Up related parts and tag them all, because tagging only half of them is useless - the tag is only valuable and useful if it is reasonable complete. You can see the problem with this in the set tags; we have literally hundreds of set tags (here), and almost all of them are incomplete. It would be nice to be able to see all "Games", but for that the tag needs to be complete (all games tagged with "Games") and without that, the tag is basically useless. We want to prevent a similar problem with part tags, so we're spending some more time trying to define which tags would be useful. When that is done, we might request the help of our users to make sure that the tags are made complete. We will keep everybody up-to-date on the developments. Take care, Simon

    Search function on Rebrickable

Probably because I renamed the powered up parts recently. I've copied the names directly from a forum post, and that sometimes gove problems. There can get unseen data/characters into the copy, messing up the search funtion. I've updated the name with plain text, and now it does appear in the search. I'll fix the other powered up too.

All my parts filters not visible on phone

It's indeed there now and it works. The toggle doesn't seem to work though. The whole section is just displayed. Unless it's a cache issue with my phone. You should announce things like that, even if it's just a post here. For one, it makes people realize they now have a new tool and for two, it allows us to thank you for your work which is very much appreciated.

Which still doesn't cover the part I want help with.the planning and execution of the dynamic growth I don't want my collection fragmented more than necessary so I have columns dedicated to categories, trying to keep the same color within the drawer boundaries as possible. so for example right now, I have enough black bricks to take up 53 cells ie one drawer is full (32)l + 21 cells in the next. The remaining 11 cells are occupied with other less common colors. I also got 9 new cells worth of drawer of black bricks to add here: So when I execute that move I end up with 32 + 30 cells occupied by black but I also need to find the best spot for those 11 cells that get evicted in that move and find a good candidate for the remaining 2 cells. Since I don't want more fragmentation than necessary. this means that each operation will affect minimum two drawers and can ripple affect over much more. and I have very little room for empty cells so that is kept to a minimum. And every time I get more parts, I will end up getting multiple growth and or shrink operation like this which is causing a pain to keep labels and inventory position up to date. And I don't know of any software that does this kind of operations on physical storage. (only harddrives)

    Tip Jar/Donations for free instructions?

I have been thinking about this: if you want your MOC to be free, and allow people to make a small donation; why not submit that MOC as Rebrickable-hosted Premium, with a minimal price (1 euro?/1 dollar?) and then ADD an ADDITIONAL link to the freely available instructions. You can even put that in the description: "This MOC is FREEMIUM, the instruction are free, but if you want to support me, you can always buy the instructions". If the term Freemium sticks, perhaps that can be shown in the MOC searches. As far as I can tell, this can be done immediately without any technical changes. I am really hoping to see more Freemium MOCs in the near future. For the next few days, I will be searching for "freemium"!
