Adding parts from an almost complete set

Question

Whats the best way to add the parts from an almost complete set?

For example, I have the Fun with Building Tub 4496-1 but I'm missing 2 of the bright orange 1x3 bricks. Is there a way to add the set and then take out those two or do I have to go through the set and add each part individually to get an accurate inventory?

Thanks!

1  Add the set to a MySets list.

2  Click on the set from the MySets list to see the inventory.

3  In the Inventory, click on a part that is missing.

4  There will be a Lost Parts Tab to the right.

5  Click on that and enter the number of parts you are missing.

Repeat from Step 3  for any other parts that are lost from that set.

One other question. How important is an accurate inventory for finding other things to build? Still new to the site and learning how to use it the best.

If you are going to be depending on pulling parts from sets to build something, it's pretty important to have accurate inventories of each of the sets you own.  I haven't had much time lately to use the build function in v3, so I can't give any specific advice or tips on how to use it.

Anyone have any tips for building in v3?
