"Lion Knights" vs "Crusaders"

Recommended Posts

It seems that the categories "Castle > Lion Knights" and "Castle > Crusaders" should be merged together. There seems to be no consensus on the correct name, but it is misleading to have two separate categories.

Hi Adrien,

I'm still doing some research on this. I have 1992 catalogs from 3 different countries, UK, USA, and Deutschland.  I'm looking for any catalog images showing the named grouping for these sets from other countries.

It is unlikely that they will be merged.  Both BrickLink and Brickset have separate categories, because there is a specific group of sets labelled by TLG as Crusaders.

Hi Thea,

As far as I know, there was no grouping called "Lion Knights", this is just an unofficial description of the Crusaders based on the lion displayed on the shields. There is a nice description of the "Crusaders" grouping in http://legosteveblog.blogspot.fr/2011/08/lego-castle-crusaders-sets-1984-1992.html

Other later factions also have a lion on their shields, they are sometimes called Lion Knights too but this does not seem justified either, see http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/Lion_Knights_(Disambiguation)
