Lego technic snake
Lego technic snake: This snake model mimics theactual motion of a snake based on the following key properties:
1. The twisting of the spine generates two sinewaves. This is the characteristic motion of a snake.
2. The wheels ensure only punctual contact of the snake body with the ground and provide minimum friction. Real snakes achieve this by lifting the body off the ground, while only locally touching the ground.
3. The wheels limit lateral gliding of the Lego snake body. The characteristic properties of the scales of real snakes result in these properties.
4. The free wheel blocks the backward gliding of the Lego snake. Again the scales of real snakes cause this effect.
The fact that the snake actually moves forward as aresult of twisting the spine caused by the Lego motor demonstrates that it is possible to experimentally model the winding forward motion of snakes. The motion generates enough power to actually carry the battery pack. Note: the motor is not moving the wheels, it just twists the spine.
