EV3 Motor Encoder Accuracy

Uses parts from the EV3 Educational set.  Simple test rig that spins the motor with a long pointer showing the degrees of rotation traveled.  Created to determine the EV3 motor encoder accuracy.  Result is that the encoder is accurate to 1 degree.

Process used was to have the motor turn 360 degrees six times in a loop.  Any error should have accumulated.  There was no accumulated error.

Using 360.8 degrees in the rotation in multiple iterations showed that the EV3-G software basically truncates any numbers to the right of the decimal point.

This test rig could be used in a classroom to help students visualize the conversion between rotations and degrees.
