4882 Sea lion

I was barely enjoying the finished Star Ostrich when a new idea popped up and it became so strong that I had to get started with it immediately. The front is identical to the Star Ostrich, but with this design I wanted to use the long curved slopes to extend the sideways shape. This immediately forced me to use the angled slopes as a cover instead. I quickly decided I should use the wings as a cover for the sideways slopes and to put the cover on top of it. The cover was pretty much constructed as a whole. That did leave me up short on the back end. I decided to use the axles as an extension to the engine. That gave me the opportunity to use another bit of reverse sideways building to add the fins. I played a bit with extending them but it didn't combine well with the engine so I kept them moderate. After that I simply maximized the elements I could add, as I usually try to. They are not necessary as a cleaner and simple design works just as well. The result is absolutely beautiful. I love the compact but fully flavored shape. The color scheme works out well. There were few second choices I needed to make. A great build.
