4882 Star drifter

The concept of the build was already in my head before I started. There were still many question with regard to how it would work out. I knew that I would be limited with the available parts to achieve this model in three separate sections connected with the axles. To keep the better color scheme I used the shorter axles to keep the engines in place, which barely works out. I was somewhat ambitious with regard to the outer sections but it didn't balance out. In the end I reduced the parts that would hold it together and reversed the top wings so it would be sufficiently balanced out. It is a quirky design but it works. The main body was more troublesome because it seemed I lacked the parts to fill it up sufficiently. A first thinner setup simply fell short, but once I reduced the parts used on the outer sections I had more parts to work with. There is some minor improvisation and the whole grew gradually as I tried some different combinations. In this it was essential to tone things down a bit. In the end I still added the funny movable engine-tails which do not fall out of place. The result looks a bit spectacular, but also familiar, with some odd things making up the model. I still quite like the result, especially because I am not always sure if an idea that I create in my head will really work.
