4882 Sea roamer
I wanted to try if I could make a larger version of the Sea Ranger, which I had dismissed at first because I had the design of the Sea Ranger clearly pictured. The basic setup was clear and I could certainly lay out the required shape. The challenge was in getting the body complete with the limited parts I had. In the end it wasn't that hard. The solution was in the engine section in the back which I decided to change into a different setup. By now I've already used plenty of variations so I knew what I could do. However, I added a bit of a twist by extending the connection of the engine with the body and adding wings on top of it. It was the right solution. By changing the way the engine was connected, I freed up a few parts that I could use on the bottom section. It required little thought to abuse its properties to add a quirky extension with small movable fins. For the top half I wanted to use as many parts as possible so I made some choices to make several ideas work out. The final model looks really good, which is surprising as I wasn't sure if I could pull it off. There are several nice elements that give the design some more dimensions compared to the basic design of the Sea Ranger. A find addition to the range of sea crafts I have made.
