Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 10265 Model B MOC by Firas Abu-Jaber, on Flickr
LEGO set number 10265 model B instructions now available!

You only need the pieces in that official LEGO set to build this model, no extra pieces are required. You only can change the wheels if you have the wheel covers you see in the pictures, they are pretty rare now, but I guess most Creator theme lovers will have these wheels, you don't need different tires though.

built at the scale of 1:15, featuring functional elements such as opening doors, hood and trunk, working steering (not connected to the steering wheel), also features full interior and engine details. I've only changed the wheels of the original set because I think the bigger wheel covers suits the newer Mustang better, but the original wheels still fit perfectly here as you can see at the end of the pictures.

This is actually my first alternative build, was a bit tough and tricky due to limitations of pieces, but I really enjoyed building this, used some weird and unusual techniques from my usual builds, but thankfully it turned out fine.

Note: There's only one small custom sticker on the hood that you can cut from the Mustang stickers yourself, it's instructed in the pdf file.

Hope you like it and thanks for looking :-)

SALE! 25% off on this model till the end of the year!

Price is 15 US Dollars instead of 20 till the end of the year!

    Hey there,
I saw this MOC months ago on Facebook. And there was also the snake build with Lego.
Was it you? Is there any instruction for the snake?

awesome MOC, challenging enough to build and great looking. I just wish I could somehow use the windscreen from set 31070 and some low profile tires.

Like the build. Just got done with it. It is very fragile all in all a great build. Wish it would have used more of the parts from the original a lot of left over parts. Thanks for the build

Hi. great job. I bought the moc but when I tried the rebrickable parts list against the 10265 parts list, it shows the following parts as missing:
    1x3024; 1x32828; 1x85861; 1x4274; 1x3070bpr00; 2x98138
Other than the wheels, can I check if I need the rest of the parts or they are in the 10265 set?
    • 3 weeks, 5 days ago firas_legocars Level 10 Designed this MOC DESIGNER
Hello, thanks for the compliment. No missing pieces, I used some pieces of the spare parts in the box, please check Bricklink parts list and you'll find the spare parts under the main pieces list.
      Best regards.

I htink one of the main issues on the "inventory" list here, is that you use some of the spare parts, but they don't show up in this MOC's inventory list.  For example, Red Tap 4599b you use two and there *are* two in the original set, but only one shows in this MOC inventory.  Same with Red Gauge pattern 3070bp07 and Mustang Round tile 3070bp07...you use two, but only one of each show used in inventory and 32828 shows only 3 used, but including the spare, it should be 4.  Minor point, but just feeding back.  Once again, fantastic design.

Thanks. May I know how you manage to have the red brake calipers that I can see in page 171 of the PDF instructions? were this added? I can't seem to locate that in steps 131-133 of the instructions on changing the wheels. Thanks.

This is my first MOC purchase, and I am really satisfied with it. I understand the limitations of trying to make it from the same set, making this a true ,,rebricked" version of the Ford Mustang set. It looks awesome, especially the back part, which is my favourite. I say that every Mustang owner should try to build this regardless of the minor flaws it may have from the constraint of using only the elements from the original set.
For those planning on building this set, they have to keep in mind that it is rather a display piece than a playset, and not as massive as the original model. Opening the door can possibly break the part which was inserted before it. I don't really understand why rubbering the doors was needed. The instructions assumes that stickers are not applied to the plates yet, and also you will need to have the extra parts provided as well! I also found myself lacking a 3623, but I am really not sure if this was because I missed something and switched. I say its not an easy build but overall understandable and clear.
A question: Are you planning to make a stronger version using extra pieces (fixing assymetry and structural weakness) which are not found in the original set? I would be interested in that, I don't think a lot of extra parts should be used, but definitely some.
    Thank you very much!

Did you buy the instructions from my website Bricks Garage? Because there was a mistake regarding this piece that I fixed later and sent emails to all my customers who bought the first version. Because I uploaded the updated version of the instructions to Rebrickable. If you still facing any problems, please PM me and I'll send you the fixed version shortly 👍

Hello, thanks for the compliment, I'm really glad you like it. Actually I just cut a line from the blue license plate to separate a 2x4 white tile, right in front of the air intake on the hood. It is instructed in the pdf file.

Hello, thanks, I'm really glad you like it.
Actually I never had such a note about anything wrong in step number 66, I think it's something wrong that you did in previous steps. If you still couldn't figure it out, please PM me and I will arrange to solve your problem. Have a great holidays.

This MOC is really good looking and its amazing what the designer did working within the constraints of the original set. I did run into some problems though. First is that this assumes you have not applied the stickers to all the plates yet. This left me with some tiles (2 2x4 in blue and 4 1x4 in white) that leave license plates on panels of the car.  I wish this was noted on this page.  The second problem is to be expected, the build is kind of weak.  It is very easy to break if handle improperly.  Grabbing the bottom with my thumbs on the roof was my first instinct and the whole top section shattered into pieces. You also cannot put a lot of downward pressure on the trunk as that will collapse, same with the hood.  You can only lift it by the bottom near the doors.  This makes the last two steps in the build very difficult.  Still, its very impressive.

Thanks, I'm really glad you like it.
As you already stated in your comment, working with limited amount of pieces to recreate an accurate looking model isn't an easy job to do, so personally I'm really glad of the results of this MOC, I actually didn't expect that I could pull this out from only pieces of one set, but I'm glad I proved myself wrong, as for my other models, they're as solid and sturdy as official LEGO sets. And still, I think this model is relatively solid compared even to normal car MOCs, not set alternatives. Best wishes.

Very impressive MOC ! Your job is amazing and I have purchased your instruction few minute after I discover it ! Many thanks for this beautiful Shelby GT500 :)

I'm planning to purchase this set for a friend and would love to give him this MOC as well since he loved Shelby's, but I'd also like to include the optional wheels you have in a couple of your pictures.  Can you tell me what the part number is for those?  I'm having a tough time finding them, particularly because they seem to be hollow (can see the red calipers through them), unlike all of the ones I can find (5-spoke versions).
    Awesome MOC!
    • 1 month ago firas_legocars Level 10 Designed this MOC DESIGNER
Hello, thanks, I'm really glad you like it 🙂 those brake calipers are small Technic pieces I placed behind the wheel covers, these are the normal 5 spoke wheel covers, they're rare and hard to find but here's the piece number anyway : 54086

Very beautiful.  And amazing you can build this as a B model of the original classic GT500.  42072 is a nice cheap set under $20 that has some nice black rims and tires that should go better with this build than the ones from 10265, I think.  Purchased first day and just waiting for my second set of 10265 for Christmas!

Having just finished up this beautiful build, I just sat back going...how in the h3ll????  Phenomenal lines (as usual, you are an artist).  It is difficult for me to even fathom how you built this so beautiful, let alone make it 100% out of the original pieces only.  I must say, it is better even than the original set, frankly.  Nissan GTR is still my favorite, but this is sure giving it a run...

Definitely prefer this to the original set, Amazing that you can build this as an alternate, well done

    Hi Firas,
great work on this B-Model - I love it!
Quick question on the parts list: Does it include extra / spare parts from the original set? Or just the pieces that are in the actual original model?
Asking because I may have re-used some of the spares already in other MOCs.
    • 1 month ago Penguuuu Level 12 MOC Designer
Hey! I'm not Firas, but I've built the model myself. The MOC makes use of many of the spare parts, that came with the model. That was a slight issue for me, as I always sort the spare parts away, because I dont usually need them for the model.
      • 1 month ago TOPACES Level 12 MOC Designer
Ah, thank you! Then I better double check the inventory for them to make sure what I may be missing.

Thank you so much, I'm really glad you like it. Sorry about that, I had to use every useful piece in that set, even the spare parts.
