4888 Submarine Iota 05

This pair of models is based on an advanced idea from the instructions book. What is most striking about them are that they mainly are built up from curved and circular elements. I started with the B-model, the smaller ROV-type submersible. While it doesn't have that many parts it is actually a very fun build as it is completely made with curved and slanted parts. It is a very clever design that breaks from any traditional mold and will be very inspirational to any builder. As there are no hidden sections I had no complications making it work.

The larger A-model was far more complicated to build. It uses several interesting techniques to create some particular shapes. Most problematic was however the back section. The picture is quite unclear how it is exactly set up and some parts simply don't seem to fit. In the end I decided to improvise and make my own modifications. The result is not that much different from the picture but at least I could make the structure solid enough. The pair look great together and both builds will be very pleasing.
