I have been experimenting with a number of different bot concepts, which have all in common that the relative rotation of the wheels is used for the steering. This approach is best illustrated by the TWIST3R, where the motors are performing both the positioning of the wheels as well as their rotation. The SPINN3R is leaving the traditional approach used for common vehicles and uses the power of Mindstroms to explore the possiblities of a new locomotion concept. While this approach is inappropriate for human transport, it offers some important advantages for bots and droids, such as the continued scanning of the surrounding making any eye rotation obsolete.
Note that this triangle based vehicle can only be operated by continuously adjusting the wheel position and the relative rotation of the motors. While this would be impossible to perform with power functions, this Mindstorms augmented remote controlled concept study allows for easy remote control.

Construction hints
It is possible to build to bot with the official Mindstorms cable, but there is hardly any room.
