4888 Creepy crustacean

Between all the submarines it is nice to have a change of pace. With so many hinge parts in this set it is not hard to make a creature. There are also many curved parts of four studs length, so it was an easy choice for the buildup of the body. While they are repetitive to some degree, they don't require many parts. It at least serves as a consistent body. There weren't many options to extend the legs so I went for the yellow plates, also of four length, to extend them. For the head I made it an extension of another segment, but in this case the sides uses a different pair of hinge parts as I had already used up all of the other type for the legs. So these became pincers. The head itself is pretty basic but a good head doesn't need to be. I spent quite a bit of time on the back segment and tried several variations. I wanted it to be able to move to some degree and it should fit with body segments. The tail is a bit of a bonus. It was just a fun addition using the hinge brick parts.

The creature model has an excellent color scheme and actually uses quite some parts despite its basic setup. I just made it from whatever parts were available and didn't aim for something that exists for real. It is just good fun and looks quite nice.
