Truss Train Bridge by Ratticus Designs
Truss Train Bridge by Ratticus DesignsI collect 80-90's Lego in combination with moc's and Lego modulars and have a city in progress.
Since I got a U shape platform of tables for my city and still want some descent railroad around my city I did want a cross-over between the 2 tables with a bridge.
I didn't want a regular bridge of plates or technic bricks linked with pins.
No I did want a good looking and "realistic" bridge.
Since I like metal constructions and cranes I was thinking of a Truss bridge (in Dutch called a "vakwerk brug" which means a "bridge of craftsmanship").
First I did search the internet for examples of lego truss bridges but nothing came close to what I did want. Made a few designs, prototype ideas with my own bricks. After a few hours I made something what looks like the final one.
Made some changes and after comments that the rails aren't locked very strong to the bottom the engineer in me designed some more locking methods, more bottom plates, technic bricks between the layers...
6 extra locking point in combination with the few bottom plates should be more than enough to hold the weight of a single loc with a few wagons.
Have fun, more designs will come over time
