I have just examined the two black parts from my 850 Technic set, and whoa. Looks like even this part has had variants. One of them has holes in the three bottom pins, each reinforced, and the other one has full bars and only the middle one is reinforced.

Checked out a set from 1998 and one of these had full tubes, only the middle one was reinforced but the reinforcing plate came all the way down to the bottom of the brick, unlike the older piece where it only came like 3/4 way down. Looks like there are really plenty of versions of this brick!

Yes there is alot of versions of the regular bricks. However neither actually add any build features. Number of cross support, hight of crossupport, pip placement, hole in pin, extra wallsupport. This is why I have asked for a mold guideline on the site that would explain when a new mold is worth a new entry. This is something the site should have when RB 2.0 is launched.

The only thing that could be effected is if you combine bricks with strings inside the underside of the brick.

PS the mold with hole in it's pin is way newer then the 850 set so it's not the original part in that set.

Oh well, I wouldn't mind. Most of the parts in that set are very generic anyway and available today. Thanks for the info, though!
