A new year, a new Modular set! If we count 10190-1 Market Street, the set that started the theme but was not originally marketed as such, 10350-1 Tudor Corner marks the 20th installment in probably the most popular AFOL theme: Modular Buildings.

Back in August I wrote a review for 76439-1 - Ollivanders & Madam Malkin’s Robes. In that review, I mentioned there weren't too many sets that depict the iconic Diagon Alley, and that I was hoping to see more of the stores in the future.

As a kid, I played a lot with Space sets. The factions from my era were Space Police II, Blacktron II and Ice Planet 2000, and through my nostalgia goggles I still see these as the best Space themes ever made.

In recent years, we've seen a couple of boats in the Technic theme, two of which have sails. These boats were rather small and didn't call to my attention. When 42174-1 Emirates Team New Zealand AC75 Yacht was announced, I had a similar reaction. The scale seemed to be the same, so the set probably doesn't have much news to offer. Then I noticed the part count, with 962 parts more than double than that of the previous boat.

The 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum has seen many adaptations in movies, musicals and other forms (with my favorite being the Tom&Jerry version). There are also many books based on the characters, including Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire from 1995, the first in the The Wicked Years series, shedding light on the tragic backstory of the Wicked Witch of the West.

The Burrow is the home of the Weasley family. Over the years, the house has been expanded and altered as the family grew bigger, resulting in a higgledy-piggledy structure of tilted sections. Despite being a well-known location from the Harry Potter books and movies, there have only been 2 previous sets depicting the structure (3, if you count the 2022 Advent Calendar), so high time for another version, this time in the Collector's Edition scale.

The year 2024 is behind us, and as per tradition, I wanted to take a final look back on the year. Nathan already wrote a blog on stuff that was going on from the developer and admin side of the site, like traffic, new features etc. JaredHinton wrote a blog on the admin's favorite sets of the year.

It's a new year, and it starts off with a new lineup of collectible minifigures. This is the 27th 'regular' series, as series like Marvel, Disney and Harry Potter are considered separate entries.

The first (modern) botanical gardens were introduced in the 16th century, often as pods for medicine or horticulture. As humans started traveling around the world during the industrial revolution, they brought back more exotic plants, and people started to build collections. In order for these plants to survive the European climate, the greenhouses evolved into beautiful architectural structures, with large glass surfaces to allow as much sun in as possible.

An anamorphic banana showing off his skeleton. This feels like a followup to Pickle Rick, but it's actually a LEGO set? I’m intrigued!
