Two major new features for Premium MOCs has just been released: support for extra Payment Methods (Apple Pay, etc) and the ability to buy MOCs without having to create an account first (Guest Checkouts). Hopefully, these improvements will see some additional sales for your Premium MOCs.
Payment Methods
In addition to the usual PayPal/Credit Cards we now support:
- More Cards such as: Cartes Bancaires
- Wallets such as: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Alipay, WeChat Pay
- Direct bank transfers such as: bancontact, EPS, giropay, iDEAL
As a buyer, you don't need to do anything. As a seller, there may be some setup required.
These new payment methods are handled by Stripe, the same processor that is being used for credit cards. So, any designers that have already setup and connected a Stripe account will already have some of these new payment methods enabled automatically.
If you haven't setup a Stripe account, it is easy to do and worth the effort to maximise your sales. See Help - Connecting Stripe Account.
Each seller can optionally turn on or off each payment method from their Stripe dashboard payment methods settings. Some methods may require additional setup to enable, but it's all made pretty clear on that Stripe page.
Not all payment methods will be shown even if enabled. Some of them depend on the buyer's country, the seller's country, the MOC's currency, or the device used. For example: Apple Pay will only show on iOS devices, etc.
As with all Stripe-based sales, the Rebrickable commission payments are automatic. PayPal sales are unchanged and still require manual invoicing at the end of each month.
In the 24hrs since this change has been in place, the number of payments made via Stripe methods has doubled. It's impossible to know if this is due to buyers switching away from PayPal, or from new purchases that would not have been made otherwise. But it's encouraging and if more designers setup Stripe accounts, it can only get better.
Guest Checkouts
You no longer need to have created a Rebrickable account before you can buy a Premium MOC.
However... one is automatically created anyway :) The difference is that these guest accounts cannot be logged in until they are activated into "real" accounts, which can be done after purchasing.
When attempting to buy a Premium MOC without being logged in, you are prompted for an email address. If it doesn't already exist, a guest account is created with usernames like guest-123456, which you might have started seeing in your sales page. The buyer has 1 week to download the file(s) before the account is disabled. They are encouraged to activate the account during this timeframe to not lose access and become a "real" account.
Naturally, all the existing fraud/piracy prevention checks in place work just as well on these guest accounts as the "real" ones.
This should make it easier for these off-site users to buy MOCs, and hopefully see an increase in sales.
In the 24 hrs since this change has been in place, we've seen approximately 20-30% more sales than normal. Not bad if this trend continues :)

Stripe don't support in south korea. Can I have another way?
-
I agree too 🥲
So sad tbh..

You could always make the instructions PDF into an NFT :-)
I was just thinking at some level a really high quality MOC could be a unique to the purchaser maybe individually numbered with a custom sticker sequence or something. [color=var(--text-color)]Lego Minecraft did something along these lines with set 21151-1[color=var(--text-color)] every set came with an individually number brick that unlocked a unique skin in the game.

Thank you so much for this great improvement!
-
hurray I just got a "guest" sale! :D
-
just using Paypal, it doesn't effect me for buying instructions, but having more ways to pay seems to be keeping up with society. glad to see constant additions to the site
-
Would it be possible to add Amazon Pay? Would be a nice option as that's what I use.
-
Stripe doesn't currently support it. But anything they add support for in the future will be available here automatically.
-
-
Stripe has been successfully set up :)
Now I just have to check if I need to pay taxes on my sales or if the income is too low for that.
-
Great News!
I just setup an account, but for ideal it asks me to provide a personal identification number, but Im not sure what that is?
-
Don’t have PayPal so new payment methods will allow me to purchase my own instructions rather than get my son to do it for me😁😁
-
Glad for more payment methods, not a fan of PayPal and there recent antics.
-
thanks a lot @Nathan! i had more sales in last days, a really hight reccord :)
-
Is there any concern of more 'stolen' designs because of the ability to use guest (anonymous) accounts?
-
Yes, it was a huge concern of mine and designed into the solution. The implementation provides 100% the same security as before.
-
Good to know!
-
-
-
Great that ideal is now supported, that helps a lot!
-
Hey im filipino but i dont have access to these types of payment. Could we get a gcash option cause thats what my country normally uses sorry
-
Sorry, it's not supported by Stripe.
-
-
Awesome! The less I need to use PayPal the better.
-
Is this worth for an occasional seller like me? My volume of selling is quite low...
-
Well what do you know, I just got a sale from a guest account!
-
I Russian, Google Pay has not work.
-
I'm curious if Polish BLIK is also supported as a quick transfer method.
-
Yes, it is possible to turn it on.
-
It's supported by Stripe but only for PLN currency which we don't support for Premium MOCs, sorry.

I love Rebrickable! It just keeps getting better. Thanks for such a great site!
-
It's great to have these developments, thanks a lot, I already noticed the increased ratio of Stripe payments against PayPal, which is quite good news, as PayPal commissions are quite a bit higher. In my case PayPal deduces about 6% when a payment arrives, and a further 4% conversion cost when I transfer the received money to a bank account in my currency (it is not possible to link an EUR bank account to PayPal in my country). At the same time Stripe has in many cases 0% commission, so I end up saving 10% if Stripe is used vs PayPal.
For this reason I was wondering if there could be an active way to encourage buyers to use other payment methods than PayPal, which are now plenty. I was thinking for example each seller could set an option to let the website automatically add an extra 5% PayPal fee to all their MOC prices when paid with PayPal, and Rebrickable would tell this explicitly when choosing PayPal as a payment method, but also that this extra cost does not apply with other payment methods. It could be an optional setting decided by the seller who is willing to experiment with this, and would be off by default. Is there a chance to have such a feature implemented?-
My calculations where wrong, this post is updated .
It's 9.76% like you said in the post below, 10% is a good estimate.
price*(100-6)% = price*0.94 = on your PayPal balance
price*(100-6)%*(100-4)% = price * 0.94 * 0.96 = price * 0.9024 = on your bank account = 9.76% ~= 10% taken of the original price by PayPal (after Rebrickable fee).-
It's true that the formula is not exactly that simple, but you made a mistake in your calculation, I guess you multiplied 0.96 with itself twice, but 0.94 * 0.96 = 0.9024, which means 9,76%. So while it's not exactly 10%, it's quite close to it. But it's not the exact amount that matters, but the fact that it could be easily avoided in many cases.
-
Oeps !
Updated.

-
I think it would be better to keep it as simple as possible for potential buyers. Just set your price to take the extra fees into account, and if they use Stripe to pay then you make a little extra.
-
Oh well, that's exactly what I want to avoid; pushing the penalty of the payment system onto the buyers without giving them the option to choose a better one and not paying the extra fees.. Many websites actually employ such a policy of extra 5% in case of using PayPal (and I always like to opt out of it if I can).
-
Hmmm, I'll think about it a bit more.
-
Thank you!
-
Fully agree to what was said here! I need to add that selling cheap models (<1€) makes nearly no sense using PayPal, so I was forced to either provide for free or increase the price... Having the price range 0.5-1€ not available is not optimal, so p[color=var(--text-color)]lease take a look if this can be implemented somehow!

Great thing.I always suggest you to add a "basket" option , so, when the same user buys more than one moc at once, the seller has to pay the commission only once. And maybe the option for a seller to add an automatic discount for users buying more than one moc at once! :)
Thanks for your great work!
I think that is good for now that you didn't activate alipay and wechat for now, even though stolen mocs are always a problem and if they want they can do it anyhow.
-
I don't think a shopping cart really fits the design. If you could buy from multiple designers in one go then yes, but since payments go directly to the designers you would need separate shopping carts per designer which is horribly confusing. Just look at Bricklink.

Great new feature! Thanks to the team for the continuous improvement of Rebrickable!
-
cool thanks!
-
Thanks for the update! I am in the process of submitting a premium MOC and as a first time seller this will certainly allow more people to buy the things I design.
Rebrickable is such a cool way to make money for more bricks (and instructions!) and to share instructions for the things I create with the LEGO comunity, and this update will allow for more people to enjoy this kind of stuff. Thanks to you all!
-
that's nice for more ways for people buying premium mocs. (more options= more money and customers)
-
Thanks to the Rebrickable team for these new features!
-
Thanks for the update! Probably about time I set up stripe. Will take a look later.
-
Awesome! I have recently set up Stripe for payment on my MOCs after a few requests via dm for an alternative to Paypal and it's gotten a few hits already, so very happy to hear that even more payment options will be available to buyers. it could only mean more sales for me and rebrickable! :D
(I buy MOCs too, but usually from my Paypal balance out of proceeds from MOC sales hehe)
-
This is great news for sellers. Thanks for pushing continued growth and development of the site. I was already planning to activate my stripe account for this but now even more motivation to do so.
On a side note something I have been meaning to ask. Is there anyway to create a "limited edition" version of a MOC for example something that includes rare parts and or custom stickers. also maybe with individually numbered and signed instruction sets?
...just a thought.-
You can submit a 2nd version of an existing MOC, as long as there is some non-trivial modification made.
-
Because its all digital, I see no real usecase here.
-
Stripe also isn't supported.
